Visva Bharati University students stage protest on Thursday.

Two students of Visva Bharati University were badly injured when a group of ABVP activists attacked them on Wednesday night outside their hostel in the university campus.

The students–Swapnanil Mukherjee and Debabrata Nath—suffered serious injuries as they were severely beaten up by ANVP members, GroundXero reported.

The ABVP members allegedly attacked them for supporting anti-CAA protest inside the campus.

Swapnanil, one of the injured students, claimed that the mob was led by ABVP leader Achinta Bagdi, an ex-student of Visva Bharati.

According to GroundXero report, Achinta along with two other ABVP leaders–Sabbir Ali Bask, Sulabh Karmakar, led a mob armed with wickets and rods, inside the university.

The students alleged that the gang entered the university on motor cycles following the VC’s car.

The students alleged that the university security officer, Supriyo Ganguly, reached the spot but he didn’t take any action.

SFI state secretary Srijan Bhattacharya pinned the blame on the ABVP and said the RSS students’ wing is trying to wash its hands off the matter.

“Their identity has come out in the open. These students were seen holding a meeting with VBU VC and attending ABVP meetings. These former TMCP members have found shelter in the ABVP now. They attacked our members in a pre-planned manner. We will protest against this,” Indian Express quoted Bhattacharya as saying.

On January 5, ABVP members run amok on JNU campus injuring several students of the university including JNUSU president Aishi Ghosh.
