A leader of the Kakopather unit of the Moran Students’ Union (MSU) in Tinsukia died and three others were injured in a road mishap at Namsai in Arunachal Pradesh on Sunday.

The deceased has been identified as 24-year-old Pallav Jyoti Moran, secretary of the Kakopather unit of the Moran Students’ Union.

The road mishap took place in the evening near the Arunachal University of Studies campus at Namsai when the vehicle, in which the deceased along with the injured, were travelling, collided head-on with a tractor.

The road mishap victim, Pallav Jyoti Moran, a resident of Kakopather in upper Assam’s Tinsukia district, who died on the spot, was driving the ill-fated Alto car (AS-06-L-8344).

The loaded tractor was heading towards Namsai.

The injured are also activists of the Moran Students’ Union.

The injured have been identified as Monoranjan Moran, Himangshu Gohain and Nayanjyoti Dohutiya, all residents of Kakopather area.

“The road mishap took place when Pallav Jyoti Moran, the secretary of the Kakopather unit of the Moran Student Union in Tinsukia, was on the return journey from Namsai in Arunachal Pradesh along with his friends in the ill-fated car,” said sources.

Sources informed that the deceased along with the injured went to Namsai for fuelling the car.

The car was totally damaged in the mishap.

According to sources, the deceased has been brought home while the injured have been admitted to hospital in Tinsukia for treatment.
