Assam Governor Prof Jagdish Mukhi wished the people of Assam on the auspicious occasion of Christmas.

In his message to the people, the Governor stated, โ€œI convey my warm greetings and best wishes to the people belonging to Christianity in particular and others in general on the occasion of Christmasโ€.

The Governor also said that Jesus was born at a time when ignorance, superstition, greed, hatred and hypocrisy prevailed upon the land.

Purity was forgotten and morality was neglected.

โ€œSo, on the day of Christmas which is a celebration of birthday of Jesus Christ, let us all rededicate ourselves to the teachings of Lord Jesus for strengthening universal brotherhood, love, compassion and harmonious co-existenceโ€, the Governor added.

Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal, wished the people through Twitter.

Sonowal tweeted: โ€˜Wishing everyone a #MerryChristmas. Let the blessings of the Lord bring joy, harmony, and prosperity to all.โ€˜

Assam industries and commerce minister Chandra Mohan Patowary has also extended warm and joyous greetings to the people of Assam on the occasion of Christmas.

In a statement, the minister said, โ€œChristmas is a celebration of human values that promote generosity and kindness towards fellow beings.โ€

โ€œI hope Christmas inspires us to work together for the betterment of our society and instill the spirit of love and brotherhood among all of us,โ€ he added.
