Guwahati based journalist Naresh Mitra working with The Times of India passed away at a city hospital on Monday.
It may be recalled that Mitra was found injured on a secluded street in the city last month.
Mitra was found with severe head injury at an area under Bhangagarh police station of the city on November 22 last.

Mitra was on way back home from office at around 10.30 pm, his colleagues said.
He was later dropped at the Guwahati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) by some unidentified persons.
Mitra was profusely bleeding from his head when he was brought to the hospital.
Family members later shifted him to the Nemcare hosipital the same night.
Though initially he was conscious and spoke to the attending persons, Naresh slowly went unconscious and sill in the hospital bed.
Although initially it was thought to be a case of accident, the doctors at the hospital who operated upon him had told family members that injuries are similar to that of assault—raising suspicion about the whole incident.
He was under ventilation since then.
Meanwhile, condolences are pouring in from the media fraternity of the State.
He leaves behind his wife and a minor daughter.
