The forest and police personnel of Assam’s Biswnath Chariali have arrested two rhino poachers at Kaziranga National Park (KNP) on Thursday evening.

Acting on a tip-off, an operation was launched by a joint team of police and forest personnel that had been led by Biswnath Chariali’s deputy superintendent of police Muzzaffar Ali and Crime Investigation Range of Biswanath Wildlife Division ranger Pranjal Baruah.

The two poachers had been caught while they had been seen walking along the Balidubi Chapori of KNP’s sixth addition with the sole intention of killing rhinos.

A 3.3 rifle and a magazine had been recovered from the possession of the two rhino poachers.

The duo had been Ayub Ali and Imran Ali.

Ayub is a resident of Biswanath Chariali’s Komargaon area and Imran hails from Sonitpur’s Gingia.

However, the joint team of the police and forest personnel is still continuing their search operations around KNP’s sixth addition to nab further rhino poachers that had been lurking in the area.
