Darrang Police on Thursday night arrested one fake physician in and seized quite a few numbers of medical equipment and medicines from his possession.

He was arrested from his residence in Bihudiya village under Kharupetia Police Station.

Identified as Sahar Ali (55), the fake MBBS practitioner was arrested by a team of Darrang Police led by deputy superintendent of police (DSP) Anita Hazarika.

“The arrested has just managed to pass his tenth boards and doesn’t hold any medical degree,” police informed.

“He was caught red-handed while he was treating patients illegally and was prescribing medicines and pushing salines,” the police added.

A cache of medical equipment including injections, salines and other medicines were also seized from his possession.

A case (No. 480 /2019) u/s 420/419 IPC has been registered in Kharupetia Police Station and the accused was sent to judicial custody on Friday.

The accused was treating patients illegally in the village since 2013.
