Union minister of state for food processing industries Rameswar Teli was hospitalized at Dibrugarh on Tuesday due to ill health.

He was admitted to the Assam Medical College and Hospital (AMCH), Dibrugarh.

Teli represents the Dibrugarh Lok Sabha constituency.

Earlier, he was taken to Tinsukia Civil Hospital by the party workers when he complained of discomfort and dizziness while addressing a gathering at Digboi in Tinsukia district.

He also participated in the Sankalp Yatra at Digboi.

Talking to media persons, Teli said, “We decided to walk 14 km from Digboi’s Tingrai to Hapjan. After completing 9 km of the yatra, I addressed a gathering for half an hour. I started to feel uneasy while I was addressing the crowd.”

Teli said the doctors gave him medication to treat his gastritis problems.

The union minister added, “I am feeling much better now. I will address another ‘Gandhi Sankalp Yatra’ programme in Margherita tomorrow.”

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Amit Shah flagged off party’s nationwide Gandhi Sankalp Yatra on October 2 from Shalimar Bagh in New Delhi to mark 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.

Shah while speaking on the occasion said Gandhiji showed the path of truth and non-violence to the world and his satyagraha movement brought the British to their knees.

Shah, who is also the union home minister, the urged people to take a pledge not to use single-use plastic as it is very harmful to the environment and health.
