Chanchui Khayi – an 18-year-old Tangkhul girl – won Miss Lily 2019 title during a night-long beauty contest as part of the Shirui Lily Festival 2019.

The beauty contest was held on the third day of the festival.

The 4-day state level Shirui Lily Festival concluded on Saturday.

Shirui Lily Festival was upgraded to a state level festival in 2017.

The festival is organized to promote and conserve state flower Shirui Lily and also to introduce its natural habitat Shirui village and Ukhrul district as tourist destination in the Northeast.

Chanchui Khayi won the Miss Lily title by defeating 18 other beauties from different parts of the state.

Chanchui, who was brought up in Guwahati, the capital city of Assam, is a BA first year student.

Miss Lily Chanchui loves singing, dancing, watching basketball and doing recreational activities.

She received a cheque of Rs 3 lakh.

Rongmei Belle Gaisinglungliu A. Pamei, a graduate from Bangalore University, bagged Miss Humility 2019 sub-title extraordinaire and received a cash prize of Rs 75,000 during the beauty and brain contest.

Other contestants, who won various sub-titles of the beauty contest are Yuiranam Zimik (Miss photogenic), T Dorthy (Miss beautiful hair), Worsophy Vashingnao (Miss beautiful skin), Undana Leimapokpam (Miss beautiful smile), Payuri Gachui (Miss pheithei pheithei),Wungchanphy (Miss perfect body), Pretty Inkah (Miss talented) and Maria Pangabam (Miss graceful walk).

The sub-title winners were awarded a cash prize of Rs 45,000 each.

The beauty pageant which also harps on the basic elements of spring-rebirth, rejuvenate, re-growth, carries the substance of love, modesty, purity and peace which is akin to the essence of a young maiden girl.

Earlier, the contestants were scrutinized by a penal of five judges who work in diverse fields during three different rounds – traditional round, designers round and fusion round of the beauty pageant.

The judges were activist Veronica Zingkhai, designer entrepreneur Robert Naorem, social entrepreneur Tara Mangchin Hangzo, academician Konika Khuraijam and books designer Zeena Singh.

Last year, Veronica Awungshi of T Hundung village in Ukhrul bagged the Miss Spring 2018 title while the best graceful walk title was awarded to Danube Kangjam, best hair title to Wungchanphy Lungleng, best personality title to Sushna Maibam and best arms and legs title went to Sushma Longjam.
