arunachal carnival

The Guwahati Arunachal Students’ Union (GASU) is going to organise an Arunachal Carnival at Assam Engineering Institute field in Chandmari here. The four-day carnival will be held from February 16 to 19.

The main purpose of hosting the carnival is to commemorate 50 years of Guwahati Arunachal Student’s Union (GASU). It aims to showcase the rich culture and traditions of Arunachal Pradesh.

Toofan Ligu, president of the students’ union stated Guwahati has been chosen to serve as hosts for the carnival because of the city being gateway to northeast India.  It is a good place to showcase the musical variability and cultural traditions of the state.

7000 Arunachalee youths residing in Assam will get an opportunity to mingle and interact with each other.

Some of the highlights of the event will be local cuisine, tribal attire, lifestyle, arts, culture, folk music; indigenous to Arunachal.

A rock concert in which heavy metal bands from across the two states will perform for audiences, will also take place at the carnival. Metal band Lunatic Fringe is set to perform on the inaugural night of the event.

Classic rock, hip-hop, blues and fusion bands are also scheduled to perform in the four-day event.
