The 26th conference of the DGPs and IGPs of the northeastern States with the Central police organization and other agencies will begin at Dimapur with a two-day programme on September 5.
While Nagaland Governor RN Ravi will inaugurate the conference on September 5, Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphu Rio will preside over the conference.
Besides, the Directors General of Police (DGPs) of all the northeastern States, top police officials of all the northeastern States and heads of the Central agencies like the Intelligence Bureau are also likely to attend the conference.
Sources said issues like security along the international border, role of social media and its influence on law and order problems, inter-state boundary issues and issues of sharing of information between different agencies for better coordination are likely to be the key points for discussion during the conference.
Initiated by the Intelligence Bureau during the early 80s, the conference has not only provided a platform to the law enforcing agencies in the region but also helped the different agencies to effectively handle the expanding network of militant outfits in the region.
