A young couple, who got married eight months ago, committed suicide at Ambasa in Tripura’s Dholai district on Thursday by hanging themselves.
Ambasa is around 120 kilometres from state capital Agartala.
Police suspect that a loan burden forced the couple to take the extreme step.
The couple has been identified as Pankaj Deb, 26, and Papia Das, 19.
“We recovered the bodies of Pankaj and Papia from their thatched house on Thursday morning. A postmortem examination of the bodies has been conducted. Investigation into the incident is underway,” a police official said.
He said that a case of unnatural death has been registered.
Pankaj and Papiya, who had been in a relationship for several years, tied the knot eight months back.
Pankaj, an auto-rickshaw driver, was the sole breadwinner of the family.
