Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Wednesday said that the state health department has taken a number of steps for providing better health services to the people of the state.
He was chairing the 11th meeting of the State Health Mission at his conference hall in Janata Bhawan.
The CM also discussed the status of various health schemes and different steps being taken by the health department.
The meeting also approved various proposals taken by State Health Mission.
“Schemes like Atal Amrit Abhiyan, Chief Minister’s Free Diagnostic Services have been launched and are benefitting many people,” Sonowal further said.
The CM also stressed on the need to make these schemes more visible among the masses and said that the respective deputy commissioners of the districts have a lot of responsibilities in this regard.
“Over 35 lakh people have been benefitted from Mobile Medical Unit service that was launched in the tea garden areas of the state,” Sonowal said.
“The state government is focussing on providing better health services in tea gardens, char areas and hill districts,” the CM further added.
He also informed that financial assistance provided by the state government for the treatment of critical diseases had also provided succour to many people from the underprivileged section of the society.
Referring to Central schemes like Ayushman Bharat’s success in providing the poorest of the poor access to quality health care, Sonowal stated that the Prime Minister Narendra Modi has brought holistic improvement in the quality of life of the people by providing toilets, houses, electricity, good quality roads etc.
He also stressed on the need to create more public awareness about various health schemes.
Minister for health and family welfare Himanta Biswa Sarma, Minister for handloom and textiles Ranjit Dutta, education minister Siddhartha Bhattacharya and along with several other ministers and top officials of various departments were also present in the meeting
