Manipur chief minister N Biren Singh on Tuesday reiterated his government’s strong commitment to carry on its campaign against drugs and substance abuse.
Biren expressed serious concern that the future generation in the State will be destroyed by drugs.
He stated that the Imphal to Moreh highway is known to be a major route of drug trafficking.
The chief minister was speaking at the Sadbhavana Diwas, the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi.

Manipur, along with the rest of the north-eastern states and the nation paid glowing tributes to the former Prime Minister.
The state level function was held at 1st M R Banquet Hall.
The chief minister was the chief guest while deputy chief minister Y Joykumar Singh was the functional president.
Speaking on the occasion, the chief minister maintained that there is need for putting in concerted efforts to root out the menace of drugs for the future of the State.
The chief minister further instructed the DGP, L M Khaute who attended the function, to form an intelligence network in and around Moreh.
The DGP has also been asked to depute a committed officer for effective prevention of drug smuggling into the state from Myanmar through the border town of Moreh.
N Biren also announced suitable reward for the police team of Thoubal District, led by its SP Dr S Ibomcha.
The team had recently busted a drug factory at Lilong and seized around 185 kg of heroin worth around Rs 66 crore in the international market.
