Arunachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly Speaker Pasang Dorjee Sona on Friday called upon the government officials to work in unison for the development of the newly-created Shi-Yomi district.

Sona said this while chairing a coordination meeting of the HoDs of various government departments at the Convention Centre in Baranggang Mechuka.

Stating that there will be lots of shortcomings and challenges for officials posted in the new district, Sona urged them to overcome them and work for the greater interest of the district.

Stressing on proper planning for paving the way towards the development of a model district, Sona stated that the contribution of every department in the district is a must.

He suggested that only after the finalisation of a detailed plan, the construction of structures should be started in the district to avoid complications in the future.

While assuring that all possible help, the Speaker called for coordinated efforts from each government official to fulfil the aspirations of the public of the district.

He urged the government officials, especially the HoDs not to leave their posting places.

“The absence of government officers not only cause public inconvenience but also hamper developmental activities undertaken by the government,” Sona said.

He further asked the officers to contribute to the development of the district with utmost sincerity.

He further urged the officers of the district to sometimes go beyond the call of duty and serve society.

He suggested them to go to schools during their free time and help the needy students in their studies.

Sona emphasized on the development of agriculture and horticulture sector in the district, which he termed as the ‘basis of sustainable development’.

He further advised the officers of the departments concerned to create awareness among the farmers on cash crops and guide them on how to grow them.

Sona expressed serious concern over the rampant killing of wild animals, especially the endangered species in the district.

He called upon the Forest Department to check such activities and asked them to create awareness among the villagers.

Asking the departments to maintain the quality of work of various government schemes, the Speaker called for timely completion of the same.

The HoDs placed their grievances and issues confronting their departments in the district.

These include the absence of ministerial staff, staff quarters, accommodation, renovation of office buildings, ambulance, water supply, shortage of subject teachers, issue of land acquisition, etc.

Shi-Yomi DC Mito Dirchi, in his keynote address, highlighted the roadmap for the development of the new district.

Assuring full support from the district administration to overcome challenges being faced by the departments, he called for a change in the working pattern for all-round development.

The DC requested every department for timely execution of their respective works. The meeting was also attended by SP Shi-Yomi and ADC Mechukha.

Sona later visited the Mechukha Community Health Centre and Police Station and took stock of the available infrastructure.

He interacted with the officials and assured to look into the requirements for improvement.
