Swiss NGO Aide et Action organized a flood response programme for the flood affected families of Lakhimpur district on Wednesday.

The programme was sponsored by Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI).

Hygiene kits comprising bucket, mug, phenyl, bleaching powder, antiseptic liquid, soaps, detergent powder, sanitary pads and ORS were distributed to 150 selected households under Karunabari development block.

The programme was conducted with the objective of promoting safe water, sanitation and hygiene practice among the affected villages to aid their post-flood recovery efforts.

Promotion of public health was another objective of the programme.

The programme was attended by the Uttar Laluk Gram Panchayat president and vice president Biju Saikia and Jatin Morang respectively along with ward members Kankana Saikia and Sadananda Kawa.

SIDBI AGM Girindra Brahma also attended the programme.

Aide et Action has further planned similar programmes in various blocks of the district over the month.

Aide et Action International is the only international NGO whose governance is shared by all its members.
