Tripura police on Monday inducted 261 motorcycles to maintain law and order in the state.
Tripura police also created a new unit called it ‘Beat Patrolling’ where the bike rider police constable will cover the areas under his jurisdiction through the motorcycle.
Woman constables have also been inducted in this group.
Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb on Monday evening flagged off the Beat Patrolling unit of Tripura police at Vivekananda Stadium.
The high level officials of Tripura police were also present at the programme.
In the programme, Chief Minister Deb expressed his satisfaction over the performance of the police.

He said the two-wheelers will help the police officials to patrol every corner of the city and the state and control anti-social activities, giving warning to the cops to fulfil their duties at best.
Chief Minister Deb urged the police to maintain a good relationship with the common people.
He said, “If police maintain a good relationship with the public then they can get success in curving the crime rate also.”
The CM said his government is working for modernization of police because they want smart police.
He also said those constables, who are working in a police station for a long time, should be transferred immediately.
