While the entire nation is divided over various religious issues, Tripura journalist Tipu Sultan has set an exemplary goodwill gesture.

Tipu Sultan donated Rs 10,000 to the Tripura Chief Minister’s Relief Fund on behalf of his family instead of spending the same in the name of sacrifice of animal during Bakri Eid.

On Sunday night, Sultan, who is working for a local newspaper, met Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb in his official residence and handed over a cheque of Rs 10,000.

Chief Minister Deb has welcomed Sultan and his family’s decision and gesture.

After accepting the cheque, Chief Minister Deb said, “I appreciate and admire this noble thinking of Tipu Sultan. I believe, everyone will be influenced by his thinking.”

Talking to Northeast Now, Sultan said, “We decided to donate the money to the CM’s Relief Fund which could be spent on animal sacrifice.”

However, it has been learnt that Sultan’s family does not sacrifice animal while celebrating Bakri Eid.

He said they don’t love to sacrifice animal in the name of celebration.

According to Tipu Sultan’s family, the main motto of Eid is to help the poor and distressed people.

Since last couple of years, their family has been celebrating Eid without sacrificing any animal.

Sultan informed that his father, Kuddus Mia, was a teacher and always taught him to do something for the society.

The money, which he donated to the CM’s Relief Fund, came from ‘Khaja Manjil’, the house of Tipu Sultan’s family.

Apart from this, Sultan’s family also donated money for orphans in this Eid.

It may be mentioned that since the last few years, a campaign, #BloodlessEid, has received support on the social media platforms.
