IMPHAL: In a series of robust security measures aimed at countering militancy, Manipur police demolished four bunkers occupied by suspected Kuki militants at K Sinam village along the Imphal-Jiribam road.

The action was confirmed in a press statement from the Manipur police control room on Tuesday (June 11).

The destruction of the bunkers followed an ambush on the advance security team of the Manipur chief minister at K Sinam village near Kotlen in Kangpokpi district of Manipur.

During counter-militancy operations, several empty bullet cases were recovered, and four illegal temporary hideouts/bunkers believed to be used by the militants were demolished.

In the ambush, which occurred on Monday (June 10), at around 10:50 am, one Manipur police personnel and a civilian driver were injured.

Senior Manipur police officials and security forces arrived at the scene, rescuing the injured and evacuating them for medical treatment in Imphal.

Additional security forces, both state and central, have been deployed to neutralize any further threats along the route.

The operations are ongoing in and around Sinam village, with heightened vigilance to ensure security and stability in the area.
