Guwahati: A police officer from the Basistha Police Station in Guwahati, Assam was allegedly assaulted.
As per reports, the police official, Pradeep Basumatary, was assaulted at a pub in Beltola, Guwahati.
The incident began with Basumatary responding to complaints about the pub. A confrontation followed and later escalated into violence.

Basumatary was allegedly doused in diesel and attacked.
The officer’s wife filed a police report detailing the assault.

Another FIR, filed by Mayuri Gautam, accused Basumatary of misconduct. However, this is contradicted by a third FIR filed by an officer who responded to the scene and faced obstruction.
Five people have been arrested, including Ankur Dutta, Debakanta Dev Nath, Krishanu Lahkar and two women identified to be Assamese television actresses.
Police are investigating the incident, reviewing CCTV footage, and aiming to bring all those involved to justice.
