Mexico City: At least six persons were killed after being shot at by Mexican guards near the Guatemala-Mexico border.
The soldiers allegedly opened fire on the truck in the southern state of Chiapas claiming that it was fleeing.

The vehicle, carrying 33 migrants from various countries including Egypt, Nepal, Cuba, India, and Pakistan, attempted to evade a military patrol, reports claimed.

According to Mexico’s Defense Ministry, soldiers claimed to have heard shots as the truck approached their position, prompting two soldiers to open fire.

Upon approaching the truck, soldiers found four migrants dead and 12 injured.

Two of the injured later succumbed to their injuries, leaving 10 others in unknown conditions.
However, the identity of the deceased has not yet been revealed.
Irineo Mujica, a migrant rights activist, expressed doubts about the migrants or their smugglers opening fire, stating, “It is really impossible that these people would have shot at the army. They usually get through by paying bribes.”
