Washington: Donald Trump, the 78-year-old Republican presidential candidate has described his projected win as a “magnificent victory for the American people”.

With 267 electoral college votes, just three away from 270, Trump is poised for a landslide win.

His opponent and incumbent Vice President Kamala Harris is trailing far behind with 214 votes.

In a speech, Trump said that the success was the “greatest political movement of all time” and vowed to “help our country heal, fix our borders”.

He also referenced the July 13 assassination attempt, stating, “God spared my life for a reason”.

It may further be mentioned that Trump won seven swing states, including Georgia, Pennsylvania and North Carolina, with leads in Arizona, Wisconsin, Michigan, and Nevada.

With the wins, the Republicans have taken control of the Senate and are leading in the election for the House of Representatives.
