Namita Thapar, the Executive Director of Emcure Pharmaceuticals and a judge of popular business reality show Shark Tank India, recently narrated how a domestic worker’s daughter turned into an accomplished businesswoman and job creator

Thapar, in a post on Instagram, revealed how Pabiben Rabari, the founder of Pabiben.com, who experienced the harsh realities of life at a young age rose against all odds to realize her entrepreneurial dream as well as save a traditional craft from getting extinct

“I am passionate about Indian artisans and conserving our craft and culture through them. My Season 2 deal with Pabiben is one that I am truly proud of,” she wrote

“She along with her team visited my office in Pune and we brainstormed on ways to scale her brand, what a fun and enjoyable afternoon it was. I wanted to share her story of resilience and creativity on this platform,” she added

“Pabiben has defied all odds to establish herself as a pioneer in the world of embroidery, creating a brand that has captivated the attention of renowned institutions like the Smithsonian Institute and the Textile Museum,” she added

Thapar further revealed that Pabiben was born and brought up in Kutch and belongs to the Rabari community which is an indigenous tribal caste of nomadic shepherds, cattle, and camel herders that reside throughout northwestern India, mainly in Gujarat and Rajasthan

The businesswoman, who lost her father at a young age saw how her mother struggled as a domestic worker amid financial difficulties, immersed herself in practicing Rabari embroidery which was fading away with time and soon devised a new form of innovative embroidery called Hari Jari, which preserved the essence of the traditional technique while significantly reducing the time and effort required

“With the support of Nilesh Priyadarshi and Noopur Kumari, Pabiben’s craft began gaining recognition. The Pabi Bag, her first product, received international acclaim and became synonymous with her brand. Today, Pabiben Rabari’s brand employs over 300 women, allowing them to work from their homes and earn a stable income,” wrote Thapar

Thapar also revealed that Pabiben is an inspirational figure encouraging other women to harness their skills

She also hoped that she can scale Pabiben's noble venture although the latter's sales are not too big at present
