Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid a heartfelt tribute to legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar on the occasion of her 94th birth anniversary

Modi, in a post on X, said that Mangeshkar’s contribution to Indian music has created an everlasting impact on everybody and her soulful renditions always evokes deep emotions on being heard

“Remembering Lata Didi on her birth anniversary. Her contribution to Indian music spans decades, creating an everlasting impact,” wrote Modi

“Her soulful renditions evoked deep emotions and will forever hold a special place in our culture,” he added

Moreover, fans also paid their respects to Mangeshkar popularly known as Swar Kokila and often compared with the Hindu goddess of music Maa Saraswati

Born on September 28, 1929, Mangeshkar who recorded songs in over 36 Indian languages was a recipient of numerous awards including Bharat Ratna and Dada Saheb Phalke Award

Mangeshkar was the eldest of five children born to Deenanath Mangeshkar and Shudhamati at Solapur in Maharashtra

Her siblings includes sisters Meena Mangeshkar, Asha Bhosle, Usha Mangeshkar, and brother Hridayanath Mangeshkar

After the death of her father, Mangeshkar started taking care of the family by starting her career as a singer and actress from the age of 13 years

Mangeshkar, who had made millions of fans across the world with her melodious voice, left for her heavenly abode on February 6, 2022
