Bharat Mandapam, the venue of the historic G20 summit in New Delhi, is beautified in a grand manner with the installation of the world’s tallest Nataraja statue

The 27 feet tall, 18-ton-weight statue of Nataraja is made of Ashtadhatu which comprises of an alloy of eight metals that includes gold, silver, copper, lead, zinc, tin, iron, and mercury

It has been sculpted by the renowned sculptor Radhakrishnan Sthapaty of Swami Malai, a town located at Thanjavur district in Tamil Nadu

Executed in a period of seven months, this iconic project is carried out by a Ministry of Culture team of Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts (IGNCA)

IGNCA also revealed that the statue has been sculpted by a person whose ancestors from 34 generations ago have been making idols since the Chola Empire period

The statue of Nataraja is claimed to be an important symbol of cosmic energy, creativity and power and is mostly revered by dancers across India

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has remarked that the magnificent Nataraja statue at Bharat Mandapam brings to life aspects of India’s rich history and culture

Sharing a post on X , the Prime Minister said , “The magnificent Nataraja statue at Bharat Mandapam brings to life aspects of our rich history and culture. As the world gathers for the G20 summit, it will stand as a testament to India's age-old artistry and traditions”

The Nataraja statue is going to be one of the prime attractions of the G20 summit in New Delhi to be held on September 9 and 10

The G20, or the Group of Twenty, comprises 19 countries (Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Republic of Korea, Mexico, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Turkey, United Kingdom, and the United States) and the European Union
