The National Flag of India in its present form was adopted during a meeting of the Constituent assembly held on July 22, 1947

The current Tricolour or Triranga was originally designed by Pingali Venkayya, a freedom fighter from Andhra Pradesh

The National Flag comprises of saffron band at the top, white in the middle and green at the bottom in equal proportions

A navy blue wheel with 24 spokes is present in the middle of the white band which is known as the Chakra

The Chakra or as known as Dharma Chakra represents the ‘Wheel of Law’ and has been inspired from the Lion Capital of the Mauryan Emperor Ashoka

It signifies motion, efforts and progress of the country

The saffron colour of the National Flag symbolizes courage, sacrifice and the spirit of renunciation

Meanwhile, the bright colour white signifies purity and truth and green stands for faith and fertility.

The National Flag, which is an utmost symbol of national pride, represents the hope and aspiration of the people of India
