Besides compiling the Guru Granth Sahib, Guru Arjan also conceived the idea of Golden Temple as a central place of worship for the Sikhs and he had designed the architecture of this sacred place himself
After the installation of Guru Granth Sahib in the Golden Temple, Guru Arjan appointed Baba Budha as the first Granthi i.e. the reader of the holy book
Guru Granth Sahib, which is a treasure of divine knowledge is said to be comprised of Gurbani (Guru’s teaching) and is regarded as the body of the Guru. It is kept on a raised platform under a canopy and covered in clean clothes
Anand Karaj or the Sikh marriage ceremony is performed by circumambulating around the Guru Granth Sahib. Moreover the holy book is of immense significance during any important social occasion of the Sikhs
Prime Minister Narendra Modi conveyed his greetings on occasion of Parkash Purab of the Guru Granth Sahib
