The farmers of Assam have recently sent pineapples, kaji lemons, plums, starfruits, jackfruits grown in the state to Singapore directly from Guwahati under a new air cargo link to boost agri-exports
Singapore High Commissioner to India Simon Wong expressed his delight on announcing the first air cargo shipment of fruits from Assam to Singapore
Sharing pictures of the fruits grown organically in Assam on X, Wong wrote, “I am happy to announce the first air cargo shipment of fruits from Assam to Singapore.”
“ This will establish a direct agro-export source from the NE to Singapore. We thank Hon CM Himanta Biswa Sarma for this pioneer initiative” he added
Sarma hoped that the first air cargo shipment of fruits from Assam to Singapore would open up new avenues to double Northeast’s agricultural exports
“This is fantastic! For the first time, farmers from Assam have directly shipped their produce from Guwahati to Singapore,” he wrote in a post on X.
“With just 4.5 hours of flight time, this opens up new avenues to help double North East’s agricultural exports!” he added
India and Singapore recently piloted the first live paperless transaction using the Trade Trust platform, marking another milestone in the digital connection between India and Singapore
