Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma recently revealed the wonderful moments which fuels the state’s collective aspiration to make Bihu become a global phenomenon

Sarma recently shared a video of Assamese singer Papon’s Afro-Bihu fusion song Ibaasi composed with Nigerian singer Niniola Apata being shown at the Times Square in New York

Sharing the video, Sarma wrote in a post on X, “Wonderful! Moments like these fuels Assam’s collective aspiration of making Bihu a global phenomenon”

Papon, who also shared a video of Ibaasi being played out at Times Square, expressed his delight in a post on social media

“Ibaasi in Times Square New York! We were in NYC and this happened! Was quite cool! And even cooler that we were in New York when #iBaasi launched! Have you heard #iBaasi yet? Go listen and dance it out! It’s a first of it’s kind!,” he wrote in a post on Instagram

The song which was released on October 25, 2023 has already crossed over 4 lakh views on YouTube

Papon, in a post on Instagram, wrote how he felt a childhood dream of his came true with this Afro-Bihu fusion song that he had created with Niniola
