Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biwa recently revealed the strategies by which the state government is planning to increase green spaces in the bustling city of Guwahati
Sarma, on X (formerly Twitter), reveals three strategies by which the state government is planning to expand the greenery of the city and make it a more beautiful spot of Assam
The first strategy is converting the places where the government offices have been taken down into parks and walking spaces
The second strategy is by creating a new urban forest in Guwahati which is supposed to be implemented in Borbari Hill by planting 1400 indigenous tree saplings in an area of 4 sq.km.
The third strategy is by removing encroachments and expanding the area of water bodies in the state
“We have an elaborate plan to increase green spaces in Guwahati,” Sarma said in a post on X
“Govt offices that have been taken down will be converted into parks and walking spaces. Creating a new Urban Forest in the city. Removing encroachments and expanding our water bodies,” he added
Some of the most popular green spaces in Guwahati which attracts a lot of tourists specially on weekends are the parks
Assam State Zoo is also one of the remarkable destinations of greenery which is visited by many people daily and is popularly known as the ‘Green Lung’ of Guwahati
