She defeated South Korea’s Suyeon Seong, a 2022 Asian championships bronze medallist and assured India of a third boxing medal in the Asian Games being held at Hangzhou in China
Meanwhile, Nikhat Zareen and Preeti Pawar also confirmed the first and second boxing medals for India in the ongoing Asian Games by storming into the semi-finals with power packed performances
While Zareen defeated Jordan's Hanan Nassar in the women’s 50kg quarterfinal, Pawar defeated Kazakhstan’s Zhaina Shekerbekova in the women’s 54kg quarterfinal to mark their entry into the semifinals

Sarma, in a post on X, congratulated her for giving a ‘truly terrific knockout’ and making ‘a befitting entry into the semifinals'

Lovlina, who hails from Golaghat district of Assam, won a bronze medal at the 2020 Olympic Games in the women's welterweight event, becoming only the third Indian boxer to win a medal at the Olympics
