Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma expressed gratitude towards Prime Minister Narendra Modi for giving the ‘gift of Bharat Atta’ to the nation ahead of Diwali

Sarma, in a post on X, wrote that that this initiative illuminates the path to affordable nutrition for all people

“As the festival of lights approaches, we express our gratitude to Hon PM Shri @narendramodi Ji for the gift of 'Bharat Atta.' The initiative illuminates the path to affordable nutrition for all,” he wrote

The wheat flour will be sold at a subsidised rate of Rs. 27.50 per kg

The launch of retail sale of ‘Bharat’ brand Atta by the Centre is to provide relief to ordinary consumers

‘Bharat’ Atta will be available at all physical and mobile outlets of Kendriya Bhandar, NAFED and NCCF and will soon be expanded to other co-op/retail outlets

Union Food and Consumer Affairs Minister Piyush Goyal said about 2.5 lakh tonnes of wheat will be allocated from the Food Corporation of India (FCI) at Rs. 21.50 per kg to NAFED, NCCF and Kendriya Bhandar under  Open Market Sale Scheme [OMSS (D)]

These organizations will convert the wheat into flour and sell at Rs. 27.50 per kg under the brand 'Bharat Atta'

Meanwhile, Bharat Dal (Chana dal) is already being sold by NAFED, NCCF and Kendriya Bhandar at Rs.60 per kg for 1kg pack and Rs.55 per kg for 30 kg pack from their physical and/or retail outlets along with onions at Rs.25 per kg

With the launch of sale of ‘Bharat’ Atta, consumers can get Atta, dal as well as onions from these outlets at fair and affordable prices
