The National Testing Agency has recently conducted the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) for admission of Class 12 students to various UG courses in India

Among the 8 states of the Northeast, the top 10 universities which will give admission on the basis of CUET UG scores are-

1. Tezpur University, Assam

Established in 1994, Tezpur University is a famous educational institution in India which aims to develop human excellence and inculcate leadership through hard work and creativity

2. Mizoram University, Mizoram

Situated in Aizawl, the capital city of Mizoram, Mizoram University has 33 functioning academic departments offering UG, PG, M.Phil. and Ph.D. programmes

3. Assam University, Assam

With over 600 acre sprawling campus, Assam University has two campuses- one in Dargakona, about 20 kms away from Silchar and the other in Diphu located in Karbi Anglong district

4. Manipur University, Manipur

A central university established in 1980, Manipur University is located in Canchipur which is 7km from Imphal

5. Nagaland University, Nagaland

Established in 1989, Nagaland University has four campuses- one at Lumami and the other three at Meriema, Medziphema and Dimapur respectively

6. North-Eastern Hill University, Meghalaya

One of the oldest central universities in Northeast established in 1973, North-Eastern Hill University has 2 campuses- one at Shillong and the other at Tura

7. Rajiv Gandhi University, Arunachal Pradesh

Formerly known as Arunachal University, Rajiv Gandhi University which is one of the premier educational institute of Arunachal Pradesh became a central university in 1997

8. Sikkim University, Sikkim

Located in Gangtok, the capital town of Sikkim, Sikkim University aims to achieve intellectual, academic and cultural development of the people of Eastern Himalayas

9. Tripura University, Tripura

From a humble beginning as the Post-Graduate Wing of Calcutta University, in 1976, to a state University in 1987 and eventually a Central University in 2007, Tripura University has traversed a long way in its pursuit of excellence

10. Cotton University, Assam

Formerly known as Cotton College, the institute established in 1901 by Sir Henry Stedman Cotton, the Chief Commissioner of the erstwhile British province of Assam, it became a public state university in 2017
