Militants arrested in Manipur
In the first operation, two active women cadres of the Manipur Revolutionary Army (MRA) were arrested from their hideouts in Imphal West district.

Imphal: Manipur police and central security forces arrested five cadres of valley-based underground groups, including two women, during multiple operations in the valley districts over the past 24 hours.

Authorities also recovered a substantial cache of arms, ammunition, and explosives, including an SBBL rifle, bombs, and tear gas shells, officials said.

In the first operation, two active women cadres of the Manipur Revolutionary Army (MRA) were arrested from their hideouts in Imphal West district.

They were identified as Phijam Sonia Devi alias Thoibi alias Lukhoibi (25), a resident of Phumlou Siphai Maning Leikai, currently residing at Takyel Lane Number 9, and Yurembam Meiteileima alias Machan alias Abemma (23), a resident of Uripok Achom Leikai, also currently residing at Takyel Lane Number 9.

Acting on information revealed during their interrogation, law enforcement personnel carried out a second operation, which led to the arrest of another MRA cadre.

Khangembam Amitkumar Singh alias Lamjingba (39), a resident of Kumbi Ward Number 7 in Bishnupur district and currently residing at Keishamthong Laishram Leirak, Imphal West district, was arrested at the Chinga Makhong crossing under Singjamei Police Station limits in Imphal West district.

In the third operation, security forces arrested an active cadre of the United Revolutionary Front (URF). The accused, identified as Angom Imo Meitei alias Father (59), a resident of Nongada Awang Leikai, was apprehended at the Kangla Sangomshang crossing under Lamlai Police Station in Imphal East district.

Following this, security forces recovered a cache of arms and ammunition from the bank of the Iril River near Sawombung Khunjao Bridge in Imphal East district.

The seized items included one SBBL rifle, 17 cartridges, five MK-80 bombs, one wireless set, two tear gas shells, one bulletproof jacket with plates, and one bulletproof helmet.

In a separate operation, security forces arrested an active cadre of the banned Kanglei Yaol Kanna Lup (KYKL) in the Huidrom Natum Ching area under Lamlai Police Station in Imphal East district.

The arrested individual was identified as Sanasam Samson (26), a resident of Sawombung Gate in Imphal East.

From his possession, security forces recovered one 36 HE hand grenade, four empty cartridges, four fired projectiles, and other incriminating items, officials added.
