Arunachal Pradesh on Friday reported its fourth COVID-19 fatality and 82 new cases, a health department official said.

The state’s overall tally has shot up to 2,512 with the detection of the new cases, the official added.

The deceased has been identified as a personnel of the Assam Rifles who was undergoing treatment at the military hospital in Likabali in Lower Siang district.

He was shifted to the Assam Medical College and Hospital (AMCH) in Dibrugarh on August 11.

The personnel tested positive for COVID-19 on August 7 after returning to Pasighat in East Siang district from Imphal.

Among the new COVID-19 cases, 29 patients are paramilitary personnel.

Most of the fresh COVID-19 cases were reported from the Capital Complex region where 17 people tested positive

Fourteen cases were detected in West Kameng and 12 in East Siang, the official said.

Among the new case, barring five all are asymptomatic patients and they have been shifted to Covid Care Centres.

Total 1,030 people, including 456 security personnel, have been diagnosed with COVID-19 in Arunachal Pradesh since August 1.

It may be mentioned here that 59 people were discharged from hospitals after recovery on Thursday and there are 790 active cases in the state presently.
