Former Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh on Sunday pledged to donate Rs 50 lakh to the PM-CARES fund to help the country in tackling the COVID-19 pandemic.

Taking to Twitter, Singh announced his decision to contribute to the PM-CARES fund and also urged his fans to follow Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s appeal to light diyas, candles or use the flashlight of their mobile phones at 9pm for nine minutes on Sunday as a sign of solidarity in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic.

He also urged his fans to donate to PM-CARES fund.

“We are stronger when we stand united. I will be lighting a candle tonight at 9pm for 9 minutes. Are you with me? On this great day of solidarity, I pledge Rs. 50 Lakhs to the #PMCaresFunds. Please do your bit too!,” he tweeted.

Many celebrities and organizations have made significant contributions towards the fund to help the country to contain the coronavirus pandemic.

Prime Minister NarendraModi had earlier urged the people to donate openheartedly at PM’s Citizen Assistance and Relief in Emergency Situations (PM-CARES) fund.

“This will be a dedicated national fund with the primary objective of dealing with any kind of emergency or distress situation like posed by the COVID-19 pandemic,” the PM said.

The account number for the PM CARES fund is 2121PM20202 with IFSC code SBIN0000691. The SWIFT code is SBININBB104.

People can also donate to the fund on pmindia.gov.in using UPI, Net Banking, RTGS, NEFT and debit and credit cards.
