Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, who was in Kolkata on Friday, said her country will never forget the role played by India in the Bangladesh Liberation War.
“We will always remain grateful for the role played by India during our Liberation War,” she said after a meeting with West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.

“We will never forget it. India gave shelter to more than one crore refugees from Bangladesh,” the PM added.
“We want to maintain this friendly and cordial bilateral relationship,” Hasina added.
She further said that the bilateral relations between India and Bangladesh are at its best now and she wants this to continue.

“I think our mutual ties are at their best now. We want to continue the good relations with our neighbouring nation,” she said.
Sheikh Hasina was in Kolkata to witness the first day-night test match between India and Bangladesh at the Eden Gardens.
