Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, who was in Kolkata on Friday, said her country will never forget the role played by India in the Bangladesh Liberation War.

โ€œWe will always remain grateful for the role played by India during our Liberation War,โ€ she said after a meeting with West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.

โ€œWe will never forget it. India gave shelter to more than one crore refugees from Bangladesh,โ€ the PM added.

โ€œWe want to maintain this friendly and cordial bilateral relationship,โ€ Hasina added.

She further said that the bilateral relations between India and Bangladesh are at its best now and she wants this to continue.

โ€œI think our mutual ties are at their best now. We want to continue the good relations with our neighbouring nation,โ€ she said.

Sheikh Hasina was in Kolkata to witness the first day-night test match between India and Bangladesh at the Eden Gardens.
