With just over two months left for Durga Puja, several festival committees in Kolkata are busy chalking out ways to ensure the safety of pandal-hoppers amid the COVID-19 crisis and also offering them a glimpse of Goddess Durga.

South Kolkata’s three Durga puja committees, who are major crowd pullers, have joined hands to introduce a drive-in ‘darshan’ concept.

According to the committee members, this arrangement would allow people to slow down their cars to take a look at the pandal and the Durga idol without having to alight from their cars.

The committees believe that the concept would avoid crowding near the pandals, thereby keeping abreast with the social distancing norms.

The drive-in concept has been proposed by the patron of Badamtala Pujo Committee.

It was also informed by the organisers that sanitizer would be sprayed on the cars before every puja pandal.
