Uttar Pradesh minister of state for revenue and flood control Vijay Kashyap died of Covid19 infection at Gurgaon’s Medanta Hospital on Tuesday.
He was 56 years old.
Kashyap represented Muzaffarnagar’s Charthawal Assembly constituency.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed his deep condolence at the demise of the Uttar Pradesh minister.
Prime Minister Modi in his condolence message said he was devoted to public interest works.
“The death of BJP leader and minister in the Uttar Pradesh government Vijay Kashyap ji is very saddening. He was a leader connected to the grassroots and was always devoted to public interest works. My condolences to his family and supporters in this moment of grief. Om Shanti!” PM Modi wrote on his Twitter handle in Hindi.
Kashyap is the third minister from Uttar Pradesh, who has lost life due to Covid19 infection.
In 2020, Uttar Pradesh ministers Kamal Rani Varun and Chetan Chauhan succumbed to Covid19 infection.
Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath and state BJP president Swatantra Dev Singh have also expressed grief over Kashyap’s death.
“Kashyap, an MLA from Charthawal, was a popular leader who discharged his duties diligently as a minister. In his death, people have lost their true well-wisher,” chief minister Adityanath said in a release.
According to a BJP press release, party’s national vice-president Radha Mohan Singh and other senior leaders condoled his demise.
Kashyap is the fifth BJP legilator, who has succumbed to the second wave of Covid19, says a mediareport.
Earlier, Salon MLA Dal Bahadur Kori, Kesar Singh Gangwar (Nawabganj), Ramesh Diwakar (Auraiya) and Suresh Kumar Srivastava (Lucknow West) died of Covid19 infection.
BJP president JP Nadda has also condoled the demise of Kashyap.
