The Supreme Court has been hearing all the pleas regarding the final year exams amid the Covid-19 pandemic, is likely to announce the verdict soon.
The apex court is likely to announce the verdict regarding the UGC guidelines and the conduction of exams for final year students on Tuesday.
On August 18, the court heard the petition filed by a group of students demanding the cancellation of exams amid the Covid-19 pandemic.
A group of 31 students from different Assam, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh and Andhra Pradesh had filed a petition in the court for the cancellation of exams.
The students are now waiting for the Supreme Court’s order, and are hopeful that verdict is going to be in their favour.
Ever since the UGC guidelines were announced, the students have been actively protesting against the decision to have the final for the students in universities and colleges.
The students are unanimous in demanding the cancellation of the exams amid Covid-19 pandemic.
The students argued that since the number of Covid19 cases is rising in India every day, having examinations in the present situation is going to be unsafe.

The students demanded that the final exams should be cancelled and students should be promoted on the basis of internal assessment.
Meanwhile, Delhi and Maharashtra governments announced that conducting final exams amid the pandemic will not be possible, and have decided to promote all of them.
But, the UGC intervened, claiming that the guidelines apply to all the universities in India, and there cannot be any special provisions for any state.
The UGC guidelines had stated that final year exams are mandatory for all higher education institutes.
The UGC had also stated that exams can be held in online, offline or mixed mode.
