A twin suicide bombing has been reported from outside Kabul airport.

While, over 100 people have been killed, another 140 people sustained injuries in the bombings.

UK Prime minister Boris Johnson confirmed that personnel of “US military lost their lives” following the explosions near Kabul airport.

At least 13 US marine troopers have lost their lives in the attack.

Meanwhile, at least 90 Afghan civilians have also been killed in the attack.

Initial reports suggest that the bombings were carried out by the terrorists affiliated to ISIS.

Pentagon spokesman John Kirby said that one near an airport entrance was a “complex attack” and another was a short distance away by a hotel.

“We can confirm that the explosion at the Abbey Gate was the result of a complex attack that resulted in a number of US and civilian casualties. We can also confirm at least one other explosion at or near the Baron Hotel, a short distance from Abbey Gate. We will continue to update,” Kirby said.

Reports suggest that more such attacks are likely to continue in Kabul as hundreds of ISIS militants have started to storm into the city.

US and allied officials have said they had intelligence that suicide bombers were threatening to attack the airport.

A massive airlift of foreign nationals and their families as well as some Afghans has been under way since the day before Taliban forces captured Kabul on August 15.

People in large numbers have been trying to flee Afghanistan in evacuation planes that have been taking off from the Hamid Karzai International Airport in Kabul.
