At a time when the world is fighting COVID-19 pandemic, fake news and misleading information of different types have also been circulating on social media.

One such fake news that has been doing the rounds is about Prime Minister Narendra giving Rs 15,000 to every Indian due to the corona crisis.

The (fake) message further claims that to collect it all one needs to do is to click on a link and fill a form.

Press Information Bureau (PIB)’s fact check handle on Twitter, however, exposing the news said that the news was fake and warned people to not to click on any such link.

“Amid difficult situations, PM is giving Rs 15,000 to every Indian and to avail it one has to click the given link and fill the form,” the (fake) message says.

PIB’s fact check handle a couple of days back also exposed a false claim that exposure to high temperature prevents a person from being infected with COVID-19.

The high-temperature killing coronavirus theory was dismissed by the World Health Organisation (WHO) long back.
