Suspended BJP MP from Darbhanga, Kirti Azad’s remark that Janakpur of Nepal should be incorporated into India has fuelled anger among the Nepal’s students community. The Nepal Students’ Union on Tuesday staged a protest programme in front of Tri-Chandra College.
Tri-Chandra College, is a constituent campus of Tribhuvan University located in Ghantaghar, Kathmandu.

The NSU team led by its general secretary Kundanraj Kafle staged an hour long protest demonstration in front of the college on Tuesday.
Azad made the controversial statement during the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s state visit to Nepal.
The NSU has decided to continue the agitation until Azad apologises for his remark. The student body also called the government to probe into alleged insult of Nepali national flag and Nepali Army by allowing the Indian Army to take charge of the security arrangements of the visiting Indian PM.

“Azad’s remarks a direct attack on Nepal’s sovereignty and could damage the age-old relations between the two countries,” The Kathmandu Post quoted NSU Vice-president Ram Prasad Adhikari.
According to the report, NSU leader Deepak Bhattarai said the union organised the protest programme after the government turned a deaf ear to the statement of Province 2 Chief Minister Mohammad Lalbabu Raut, restriction on the Nepali media from entering the Muktinath temple, and border encroachment.
