Union home minister and BJP chief Amit Shah on Monday said “each and every” infiltrator will be identified and expelled before next Lok Sabha elections, asserting NRC will be completed by 2024.

“Today let me assure that before the 2024 Lok Sabha polls, the National Register of Citizens (NRC) will be conducted across the country and every infiltrator will be identified and expelled,” Shah said.

He was addressing election rallies at Chakradharpur and Baharagora in Jharkhand.

“The pan-India NRC will be carried out, no matter what,” Shah said, despite a few West Bengal BJP leaders saying the nationwide NRC issue cost them dearly in the recently held state by-polls.

Shah on November 20 informed the Rajya Sabha that a nationwide NRC will be carried out in the country and Assam will also be a part of it.

The final NRC published in Assam on August 31 this year saw the exclusion of over 1.9 million applicants in the state.
