Sunday turned out to be the deadliest day in Myanmar since the military of the Country staged a coup and seized power from the democratically-elected civilian Government on February 1.
At least 18 peaceful protestors were killed and many sustained injuries after the police in Myanmar opened fire on Sunday.

As demonstrations in Myanmar gained momentum, security forces began a violent crackdown on protesters in towns and cities across the country.
The highest number of causalities were reported on Sunday with 5 from Yangon, 2 from Mandalay, 3 from Bago, 4 from Dawei, 2 from Pakokku and 1 each from Myeik and Mawlamyine.
Updated – At least 17 peaceful protestors have been shot dead in different parts of the country by the Myanmar military/police today. The number increases.

In Yangon, the Myanmar’s biggest city, a protester succumbed to bullet injuries. The protestor was shifted to a Hospital with bullet wound in the chest.
A woman Yangon also died of cardiac arrest after police fired stun grenades.
Three protestors were killed and over a dozen sustained injuries after police opened fire in Dawei.

Two protestors were also reportedly killed in the city of Mandalay.
Meanwhile, the UN Human Rights Commission has condemned the killing of protestors.
“We strongly condemn the escalating violence against protests in Myanmar and call on the military to immediately halt the use of force against peaceful protestors,” UN Human Rights Asia stated.
