Imphal: Manipur Member of Parliamentย Angomcha Bimol Akoijam, has filed a Right to Information (RTI) application with the Ministry of Home Affairs seeking clarity on the existence and legal basis of any buffer zones in the state.

The RTI seeks information on whether any buffer zones have been officially declared that segregate or restrict the movement of Zo and Hmar communities from Meitei citizens and vice versa.

It also requests copies of notifications, if any, and details of the laws, legal provisions, and executive orders under which such zones may have been established.

Through this move, Akoijam reaffirmed his commitment to transparency, constitutional rights, and the free movement of citizens.

He also urged the authorities to ensure accountability and provide clarity on matters affecting social harmony and civil liberties in Manipur.
