In a WhatsApp message to media persons in Karbi Anglong district, Karbi People’s Liberation Tigers (KPLT) said that they are regrouping as “coming over-ground has not been fruitful for the KLPT cadres”.

The out in its WhatsApp message further said that with an aim to fight for an Autonomous State under Article 244 (A) of the Indian Constitution, 80 cadres gathered somewhere in Karbi Anglong on January 5, 2018 and formed the KPLT (Anti-talks).

Through the message the outfit stated that Arak Arhi has been made its self-styled Operation Commandant, Jio Tungjang as its self-styled Deputy Chairman and Rongbin Ejang has been made its self-styled Finance and Foreign Secretary. However, it has made no mention about its Chairman.

Meanwhile, police arrested two KPLT cadres identified as 22-year-old Diganta Tisso and 23-year-old Semson Phura from the Umswai area in West Karbi Anglong district.

The duo was arrested on charges of being allegedly involved in extortion from the rice mill owners in Umswai area and disturbing the Umswai locals in the past couple of months.

The Ulukunchi Police along with the Baithalangso Police caught the KPLT cadres. A case (80/2018) under section 120(B) /121/121(A)/387/34 has been registered at Baithalangso Police Station.
