The Supreme Court on Monday cancelled the plea of candidates seeking a postponement in JEE Main and NEET examinations.

“Career of students cannot be put under jeopardy for long. Therefore, the entrance exams will be held as per schedule,” the SC said.

The JEE Main will be held from September 1 to 6 while NEET will be held on September 13 and the JEE Advanced on September 27.

The exams were postponed twice this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, however, students were demanding a further deferment.

The Supreme Court further said that it has taken note of assurance by authorities that the exams will be held with adequate precautions.

It may be mentioned here that over 9 lakh students had applied to appear for JEE Main while nearly 16 lakh registered for NEET.

Candidates were given several options to opt for the nearest exam centre.
