Israel reports first COVID-19 and influenza double infection “florona”

In a first, Israel has reported a case of “florona” disease which is said to be a double infection of COVID-19 and influenza.

This was reported by Arab News in a tweet.

Following the report, Israel has now initiated administering fourth vaccine shots against COVID-19 for individuals with a compromised immune system.

The boosters for immuno-suppressed people due to the Omicron infection wave were permitted on Saturday and it will be given to people who had passed four months since their third shot.

Vaccines for elderly patients at geriatric facilities were also approved.

The health ministry said this was done “due to concerns of outbreaks at such facilities, and the risk to the health and lives of residents.”

Isreal over the days has reported a continuous spike in the COVID-19 cases.
