India’s foreign secretary Vijay K  Gokhale called on Bhutan Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay, foreign secretary Sonam Tshong, and other senior government officials on Sunday.

Gokhale arrived in Bhutan on Sunday for a bilateral meeting with the government.

A press release from the Bhutan’s foreign affairs ministry stated that during the visit, the two sides reviewed and updated on several areas of development and cooperation including hydropower and trade, the golden jubilee celebrations to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relation between the two countries, and other matters of mutual interest.

The press release stated that the foreign secretary’s visit reinforces the tradition of regular high-level exchanges between the two countries.

Gokhale also met the Bhutan King during his visit.
