India’s Covid19 tally reaches 85,53,657; death toll rises to 1,26,611

India has registered 45,903 new Covid19 cases and 490 fatalities in the last 24 hours, taking the country’s positive tally to 85,53,657 and death toll to 1,26,611on Monday.

According to the Union health ministry, India currently has 5,09,673 active Covid19 cases.

So far, a total of 79,17,373 people have been discharged after their recovery from the disease.

As per the health ministry data, the country’s recovery rate stands at 92.56% while the death rate is 1.48%.

Maharashtra remains on the top of the list of Covid19-hit states in the country with a total of 1,719,858 positive cases and 45,240 fatalities.

Maharashtra is followed by Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh and Delhi.

On Sunday, the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) conducted a total of 8,35,401 Covid19 tests, taking the total number of tests to 11,85,72,192 so far.

Globally, more than 50 million people have been hit by Covid19 so far.

The United States became the first nation in the world since the Covid19 pandemic began, to cross 10 million infections, according to a media report on Sunday.

The United States has reported about a million cases in the last 10 days, the highest rate of infections since the nation reported its first Covid19 case in Washington state 293 days back.
